3.5"There is confusion between the sales departments and service departments at MINI. Sales, and the owner's manual state that the MINI will need an oil change every 15,000 miles or every year. Service, however, will only perform the oil change if the car computer calls for it. When I brought my car in for its 30,000 mile service, I expected the oil was changed. They gladly made me an appt and said they would go over the whole car for me to make sure everything was in order. The service person that greeted me was very nice & thorough - also showed me how to use the controls & how to check the computer for service, tire info, brake info, etc... Everyone in the service & parts dept was very pleasant and helpful. Even though I live in Sarasota I will continure to drive to Ft. 4.0"The experience would have been rated as "Truly Exceptional" except for one issue. My first visit (diagnosing the problem) went well. The purpose of my second visit was to pick up a part--that's all I needed to do, and I arranged my schedule to allow 10 minutes or so to do that. I wasn't informed beforehand that the process of picking up the part would involve not only paperwork processing (around 10 minutes) but taking my vehicle into the service area to hook it up to the computer and download information from it. I was told this would take an additional 15 minutes, and when I expressed astonishment that I needed to be there that long (remember, I was literally only picking up a part), the service manager promptly intervened, gave me the part, and sent me on my way. I really don't mind spending 25-30 minutes for something that needs to be done, but (1) MINI needs to let me know this ahead of time and (2) I question whether in this case this business of hooking my car up to a computer really NEEDED to be done; the service manager said they would find the information from my last visit (which was only last week)."
